MBABANE– Government, through the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade, has announced that it will embark on routine compliance inspections across commercial premises nationwide as part of efforts to strengthen regulation and ensure adherence to business laws.
According to a statement issued by the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Hon Manqoba Khumalo on May 19,2026 the inspections form part of its ongoing mandate to promote a fair, safe and compliant trading environment in the country.
The exercise will focus on ensuring that businesses comply with all relevant laws, regulations and licensing requirements governing commercial activities in Eswatini.
The Ministry said the inspections will cover a wide range of business operations within the commercial sector and will be carried out by authorised officials.
“Businesses are encouraged to cooperate fully with inspection teams and ensure that all required documentation, permits and operational standards are in order,” the Ministry said.
Government emphasised that the exercise is routine in nature and is intended to strengthen compliance, protect consumers, support fair competition and build confidence within the country’s business environment.
Members of the public have also been encouraged to report suspected cases of non-compliance, illegal trading activities, counterfeit goods, unfair business practices and any other concerns affecting the commercial sector.
The Ministry further urged continued cooperation between the business community and Government in promoting lawful and sustainable commercial practices that contribute to national economic growth and development.
