MAFUTSENI – Mafutseni Inkhundla Member of Parliament Sabelo Mtetwa has assured Mafutseni residents that Parliament is working on laws aimed at tackling Facata scams, stock theft and other crimes affecting communities across the country.
The Member of Parliament said Parliament was currently working on the Crime Prevention Bill No. 24 of 2025, which seeks to strengthen community policing and improve crime prevention structures nationwide.
He made the remarks during a prayer service hosted by Mafutseni Divine Healing Ministries International on Sunday, May 24, 2026, under the theme “Know Your Identity”.
The legislator said the proposed law would formalise the role of community police, commonly known as emaphoyisa emmango, while also improving their welfare through proper structures for training, selection and compensation.
According to Hon. Sabelo Mtetwa , the bill would also provide compensation for community police officers who are injured, disabled or killed while carrying out their duties.
He further stated that Members of Parliament would engage the relevant minister to strengthen laws dealing with technology-related crimes, noting that many young people were highly advanced in technology.
“We are now living in a technological era and criminals are also using technology to commit crimes. Laws must move with the times,” he said.
Manzini Regional Commissioner Charles Simelane said Facata scams remained one of the major challenges affecting the region, especially in areas linked to Bhudla under Mafutseni.
He said stock theft and rape cases were also among the crimes troubling communities.
Simelane pleaded with residents to work together with authorities to help end criminal activities in the area.
Meanwhile, Pastor Mduduzi Mthambo praised the collaboration between the church and the Royal Eswatini Police Service in educating communities about crime and spirituality.
He said the combination of police teachings on crime prevention and spiritual guidance from the church was important in building safer communities.
Since the passing of the church founder, Bishop Nash Shongwe in late 2024, the ministry has been led by Lady Bishop Zanele Shongwe.
The Mafutseni branch has continued to host regional services involving government officials and national security institutions to address social challenges affecting communities.
