EZULWINI– Business Eswatini (BE) convened its annual 2026 Tax Indaba to provide companies with a platform to raise their concerns directly with the tax-collecting authority, the Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS), as part of efforts to strengthen compliance and transparency.
The meeting was held on March 4, 2026, at Happy Valley Hotel in Ezulwini, where BE Chief Executive Officer E. Nathi Dlamini said the engagement continues to serve as an important bridge between the business community and ERS on emerging tax risks.
He said businesses were increasingly seeking clarity on how previously administered employee benefits including housing, company vehicles and soft loans are treated under updated tax regulations.
“We are here to ensure that companies are able to openly raise their concerns with ERS and receive clear guidance. Dialogue is the first step towards compliance and stability,” he said.
Held under the theme “Yesterday’s Benefits. Today’s Tax Risk!!”, the Indaba brought together the Honourable Minister of Finance, the Commissioner General of ERS and the Registrar of the Revenue Appeals Tribunal, reflecting a coordinated approach to improving tax administration.
Dlamini noted that the Tax Indaba is an annual engagement and has proven successful in previous years, helping to resolve grey areas and strengthen cooperation between the private sector and government.
He added that deliberations from this year’s session would not end in discussion alone.
“At the end of this engagement, we aim to come out with practical solutions and clear recommendations which will then be formally presented to Government,” he said.
The 2026 Tax Indaba reaffirmed Business Eswatini’s commitment to constructive dialogue, with expectations that the outcomes will further enhance voluntary compliance and policy alignment going forward.
