MANZINI – Karaoke has a funny way of changing the atmosphere in a room. A familiar song comes on, someone takes the microphone, and suddenly the people who came to listen become part of the performance. That is the energy Celumusa “Cece” Mkhatshwa is bringing to IF’s Lounge Manzini, where he is set to lead a karaoke night on September 23.
Rather than treating the evening as a conventional performance, Cece’s involvement puts the focus on participation, giving people in the room an opportunity to step forward and make the music their own.
With resident DJs providing the music and Thando handling the microphone between performances, the night is expected to move between familiar songs, audience participation and the unpredictable moments that make karaoke different from an ordinary night out.
