MBABANE – The Family Life Association of Eswatini (FLAS) has reaffirmed its commitment to public health by clarifying the distribution of condoms at the annual Buganu Ceremony.
The organization stressed that this initiative aligns with global best practices in preventing the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, and is a key part of national health strategies.
In a press statement, FLAS reaffirmed its role as a leading Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) organization and highlighted its commitment to promoting safe and informed health choices for all Emaswati.
Health First: Supporting National Goals
FLAS has been widely recognized as a Centre of Excellence for Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and HIV integration, working in collaboration with the Government of Eswatini to implement the Ministry of Health’s mandate. By providing life-saving health education and services, FLAS continues to be a strong pillar in the nation’s efforts to curb HIV/AIDS and promote family planning.
The organization provides critical health services across the country and ensures that individuals have access to essential information and protective measures to safeguard their well-being.
“Our role as an extended arm of the Ministry of Health includes making sure that health services, including STI and HIV prevention, are accessible to all Emaswati. The distribution of condoms at public gatherings is a standard public health practice, and we commend those who take advantage of these services,” FLAS stated.
The organization reiterated its deep respect for Eswatini’s cultural events and traditions, emphasising that condom distribution is not intended to be event-specific but rather a proactive approach to empowering individuals with knowledge and resources for informed health choices.
FLAS remains steadfast in its mission to improve the well-being of all Emaswati by collaborating with government institutions, communities, and partners. Through continued education, health services, and advocacy, the organization aims to create a healthier and more informed society.
As Eswatini continues to advance its public health initiatives, FLAS encourages open dialogue and awareness on the importance of sexual and reproductive health. The organization invites all stakeholders to support efforts that promote a healthier nation, ensuring that individuals are equipped with the necessary tools to protect themselves and their loved ones.
