MBABANE– Six years after his last performance in the Kingdom, celebrated South African gospel artist Dr Tumi made a triumphant return to Eswatini, delivering a powerful night of worship that united thousands of believers at Mbabane Alliance Church.
Long before the programme began, worshippers streamed into the venue with eager anticipation, creating an atmosphere charged with excitement as they awaited one of gospel music’s most respected voices.
The evening attracted several distinguished guests, including Minister of Sports, Arts and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima, Rev. Mazibuko and Mbabane Municipal Council Chief Executive Officer Gciniwe Fakudze, who joined hundreds of worshippers for the much-anticipated Dr Tumi Live Experience.
The night opened on a high note as Spirit of Praise ushered the audience into worship with soul-stirring performances that immediately had the congregation singing, dancing and lifting their hands in praise.
Adding to the significance of the evening, 12 talented backing vocalists who had earned their places through auditions officially took to the stage, showcasing the depth of local talent while setting the tone for an unforgettable worship experience.
Eswatini gospel artists also took centre stage, each leaving their mark on the evening.
Shekinah Motsa ministered through heartfelt worship, drawing the congregation into moments of reflection and praise, while Nothando Dlamini captivated worshippers with a powerful worship session that saw voices unite across the packed venue.
The energy shifted as Sphiwo Ndoni got the crowd on their feet with an energetic performance, before Nelly Siwela kept the momentum alive, turning the venue into a joyful celebration as worshippers danced and sang along.
One of the standout moments before the headline act came when Linda Dlamini performed the beloved gospel anthem Phathi Igama LikaJesu, with the entire congregation joining in as the song echoed throughout the venue.
When Dr Tumi finally stepped onto the stage, the response was immediate.
Thunderous applause, loud cheers and raised hands welcomed the award-winning gospel minister as worshippers rose to their feet, marking the beginning of a deeply moving worship encounter.
Among the night’s most emotional moments was his performance of Wafika Kimi, a song that saw thousands of voices blend into one as the congregation sang every word in worship.
Speaking during an interview, Dr Tumi reflected on his long-awaited return to Eswatini, describing the Kingdom as a place that has always held a special place in his heart.
“Eswatini is home. I don’t even know why I need a passport to come this side,” said Dr Tumi, drawing laughter and applause from those in attendance.
His heartfelt remarks resonated strongly with worshippers, many of whom had waited years to see him minister in Eswatini once again.
More than just a concert, the Dr Tumi Live Experience became a celebration of faith, unity and the growing strength of gospel music in Eswatini. From local artists sharing the stage to thousands of worshippers lifting one voice in praise, the evening served as a reminder of music’s unique ability to inspire, heal and bring people together.
For many in attendance, Dr Tumi’s return was not simply a performance—it was the homecoming of a gospel minister whose connection with Eswatini remains as strong as ever.
