MBABANE – The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) has officially unveiled a 17-member delegation that will represent the Kingdom at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games scheduled for July 23 to August 2 in Scotland.
The announcement was made during a press briefing held at the EOCGA headquarters on Tuesday morning, where EOCGA President Adam “Bomber” Mtsetfwa officially introduced the team in the presence of the organisation’s chief executive officer, (CEO) Maxwell Jele and board members.
The delegation comprises 10 athletes, four coaches, one physiotherapist and two team officials tasked with ensuring the country’s smooth participation at the multi-sport event.
Leading the team administration will be Athletics Eswatini (AE) Chef de Mission Zakhele Dlamini, assisted by General Team Manager Zama Tsabedze, while Lungile Vilakati will serve as the team’s physiotherapist.
Swimming will contribute the largest contingent of athletes, with Hayley Hoy, Siwakhile Dlamini and Damien DeSousa earning selection. They will be guided by coach Ndumiso Khoza.
Eswatini’s boxing hopes will rest on Mukelo Dlamini and Siboniso Vilakati, who will compete under the guidance of coach Douglas Simelane.
In judo, Lamulela Magagula will fly the national flag, with Mashumi Sihlongonyane serving as coach.
The athletics team features Mlandvo Maziya, Thandaza Zwane, Bongumuzi Matsebula and Bongiwe Mahlalela. The quartet will be coached by Sibusiso Matsenjwa.
The selected athletes are expected to intensify preparations in the coming weeks as they seek to make a mark against some of the Commonwealth’s finest competitors.
The Glasgow Games present another opportunity for Eswatini’s athletes to showcase their talent on the international stage while inspiring the next generation of sportsmen and women back home.
