BHUNYA – In a time when many young people often look beyond Eswatini for inspiration, emerging author Nokwanda Siphesihle Nkambule is drawing attention for turning inward—transforming her lived experiences into a creative work that is now gaining international readership. Her debut novel IN ANOTHER LIFE, a gothic dark romance exploring love, loss, fate, and emotional struggle, reflects a journey shaped by resilience, imagination, and determination.
Nkambule officially launched IN ANOTHER LIFE on June 27, 2026, at Bhunya Hall, during a vibrant and well-attended event that brought together family, friends, literary enthusiasts, and supporters of local arts, in a strong show of encouragement for Eswatini’s growing creative sector.
The novel, already verified on Amazon and Goodreads and attracting over 10 000 digital reads, blends gothic suspense with dark romance themes. It draws inspiration from literary classics such as Wuthering Heights, Rebecca, and Shakespearean works including Romeo and Juliet, weaving a narrative marked by emotional depth, psychological tension, and romantic tragedy.
Nkambule revealed that she began writing IN ANOTHER LIFE while still a student at the University of Mpumalanga. What started as informal writing during her early academic years gradually developed into a full novel after she faced a financial setback that temporarily disrupted her studies. She said the experience pushed her into deeper reflection and ultimately became the foundation of her creative voice.
She said, “This book is very personal to me. It comes from a place of struggle, reflection, and growth. I want young people to know that setbacks do not define your future.”
She further added, “I used writing as a way to cope and rebuild myself. What started as pain became purpose.”
Nkambule expressed gratitude to those who attended the launch, noting that while some family members and close friends were unable to be present, the support she received made the occasion meaningful and memorable.
She also used the platform to encourage greater investment in local literature and stronger support systems for young writers in Eswatini.
She said, “There are so many young writers in Eswatini with powerful stories. We just need opportunities and platforms to share them.”
Guest speaker Mr Vumindaba Masuku, President and Founder of the Eswatini Literacy Foundation, praised Nkambule’s achievement and the resilience behind her story, describing it as a reflection of determination and emerging creative strength within the country.
He said, “Today we are not just launching a book; we are launching a message of hope. This is what happens when determination meets opportunity.”
He further encouraged young people to embrace challenges as part of their growth journey, noting that Nkambule’s success reflects the potential within Eswatini’s emerging creative industry.
The successful launch of IN ANOTHER LIFE marks a significant milestone in Nkambule’s literary journey and adds to the growing visibility of Eswatini’s young writers on both local and international platforms. The event concluded on a hopeful note, with attendees celebrating a story of perseverance, creativity, and ambition that continues to inspire a new generation of storytellers.
