MBABANE– Award-winning singer Zamo is set to mark her highly anticipated return to the music scene with the release of her new album, Ihlumile, tomorrow, March 6, 2026.
The project, which the singer describes as deeply personal, is inspired by themes of love, faith, and the journey of blossoming into one’s true purpose.
Born Nomzamo Dlamini, the MTN SWAMA Award winner has stepped back into the spotlight with a body of work that marks her first full-length release in eight years. Having spent that time writing, evolving, and navigating life away from the pressures of the public eye, Zamo feels the timing is finally right for this new chapter.
“I have not released an album since 2018. I just felt ready. I never stopped writing, so this offering lies deep in my heart,” she shared.
Zamo’s trajectory in the industry has been long and impressive. She first gained prominence as a teenager, captivating audiences with her soulful voice and songwriting prowess. Her credentials include sharing stages with African music heavyweights and serving as a former member of the renowned gospel ensemble Joyous Celebration, an experience she credits with sharpening her artistry and broadening her regional reach.
Her solo resurgence has been marked by the success of singles like Tinyembeti, which dominated local airwaves, and Njengami. Ihlumile is designed as a continuation of the narrative she began with her 2018 project, Inhlanyelo.
Using a powerful siSwati metaphor, Zamo explained the connection between her past and present work: “In 2018 I gave birth to Inhlanyelo and now musically ihlumile lenhlanyelo leyo (that seed has sprouted) and I have blossomed in many other aspects.” The title Ihlumile, meaning “it has blossomed,” serves as a symbol of both her artistic maturity and personal evolution.
The album is a carefully curated blend of previously released singles and fresh material from her private catalogue, the result of a dedicated six-month production process.
“The world needs more love. There is someone out there who feels they have done enough and things are not working out. There’s a song for you in there,” she added.
