MBABANE- The Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) is well on track with preparations for the much-anticipated return of the Africa Aquatics Zone IV Championships in 2025. According to CEO Nozipho Mahlalela, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) has been meeting regularly to ensure all logistics are progressing smoothly and promotional activities are successfully generating excitement both within Eswatini and across participating nations.
“We are pleased with how preparations are moving forward,” Mahlalela said. “Our aim is to provide a top-quality event that highlights Eswatini as a capable host on the continental stage.”
A notable aspect of this year’s championships is the choice of venue. While such competitions traditionally use a long course 50-meter pool, ESA has opted for a short course swimming pool this time around. Mahlalela explained that although Eswatini boasts a wealth of accommodation facilities to host visiting teams, the limited availability of long course pools necessitated this adaptation.

On the financial front, Mahlalela shared that the Eswatini Sports and Recreatioal Council (ESRC) has been a key supporter. “The ESRC, under CEO Mr. Dlomo, has been instrumental in providing financial support and has affirmed their commitment to helping us deliver an exceptional championship,” she remarked. ESA has also engaged with private sector partners, noting encouraging feedback that signals growing local interest.
“This championship presents a significant opportunity for Eswatini not only to showcase our sporting capabilities but also to boost tourism and inspire local athletes,” Mahlalela added. “While we are grateful for existing support, we continue to seek further partnerships to ensure the event’s success.”
With the countdown to the Africa Aquatics Zone IV Championships 2025 underway, Eswatini is making waves in the regional sports scene, demonstrating its readiness to host a memorable and impactful aquatic event.
