MBABANE – The Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) is set to host a pivotal educational tour for international tour operators from July 27th to August 1st, 2025. This initiative aims to bolster Eswatini’s global standing as a premier boutique, culturally rich, and sustainable travel destination in Southern Africa. The six-day tour will immerse participants in the nation’s culture, natural beauty, and tourism potential, with the goal of fostering global trade partnerships and raising awareness of Eswatini.

Leading tour operators from the UK, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Uganda, and Botswana will participate, showcasing Eswatini’s diverse appeal.

Vusie Norman Dlamini, CEO of the ETA, emphasized that this firsthand experience will directly inform how operators market and package Eswatini globally.

Participating companies include OnlyOne Travel, Tailored Journeys, Kalahari Calling, Go Zuid Afrika, Nyanja Safaris, Gazelle Safari Company, Meme Africa Travels, and Upside Travel & Tours, all renowned for crafting unique travel experiences.

The comprehensive itinerary includes cultural immersion at Mantenga Cultural Village, King Sobhuza II Park, and the National Museum. Participants will explore the artisan scene at Ezulwini Handcraft Market, Swazi Candles, and Ngwenya Glass Factory. Wildlife experiences await at Mkhaya Game Reserve, Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, Malolotja Nature Reserve, and Phophonyane Falls. Community engagement at Esitjeni village and scenic routes like Maguga Dam and the northern highlands are also planned.

The tour balances adventure with cultural education, offering opportunities to engage with Eswatini’s culinary, artistic, and eco-tourism initiatives, including traditional performances and rhino protection programs.

With a collective client base spanning thousands in high-value markets, these operators are poised to integrate Eswatini into their luxury Southern Africa itineraries. The ETA anticipates that this program will lead to stronger partnerships, increased bookings, and enhanced visibility within high-value travel segments, ultimately benefiting local communities and conservation efforts.

Dlamini highlighted the powerful ripple effect of this engagement, expecting operators to leave with new product ideas and partnerships that will draw more travelers to Eswatini, and their endorsements will be instrumental in reaching new audiences. This initiative is a core part of the ETA’s post-pandemic strategy to expand Eswatini’s tourism footprint and cultivate regional collaborations for sustainable travel in Southern Africa.
