MBABANE– Eswatini’s music scene is proving that talent can travel far beyond the kingdom’s borders, with Grixxly’s latest single “Garments”, featuring Sarnilo and Young Zesh, finding fresh life on TikTok.
Released on 16 July, the collaboration is quickly becoming a talking point among music lovers, with listeners embracing the track and using it as the soundtrack to their own TikTok content.
For Young Zesh, the growing response is a sign that the song has struck a natural connection with its audience.
“I think ‘Garments’ connects with people because it is a song that feels natural and relatable. There is a certain energy and vibe in the record that people can easily identify with, especially the younger generation,” he said.
The rapper added that seeing fans turn the song into their own content makes the achievement even more special.
“When fans take a song and make it part of their own content, that is when you know the music is really connecting,” Young Zesh said.
“Garments” was created as more than just a musical release. Grixxly described it as an anthem for fashion enthusiasts, celebrating style, self-expression and cultural identity. The artwork carries the message “Made in Eswatini for Global Distribution”, reinforcing the ambition to take local creativity to wider audiences.
The track brings together the distinct sounds of Grixxly, Young Zesh and Sarnilo, with production handled by Grixxly alongside Sihlangusibiya and Vuyo SZ.
Young Zesh said the collaboration worked because each artist was allowed to bring their own identity to the record.
“Grixxly brought his own identity, Sarnilo brought his flavour, and I came in with my own Young Zesh energy,” he said.
The TikTok reception highlights how Eswatini’s artists can create music that resonates with audiences beyond traditional platforms. As fans continue creating videos around “Garments”, the song is becoming a showcase of pure local talent, creativity and cultural confidence.
For Young Zesh, however, this is only the beginning.
“Definitely more music,” he said. “Fans can expect more collaborations, more solo music and projects that continue to show different sides of Young Zesh as an artist.”
