MANZINI – The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Honourable Savannah Maziya, has described governance focused education as a powerful tool for empowerment, integrity, and national development, as she congratulated Senator Dr Stukie Patricia Motsa on receiving an honorary doctorate.
Speaking at the conferment ceremony, Minister Maziya said it was encouraging to see an academic qualification that places governance at its core, noting that such knowledge is critical in shaping ethical leadership and strengthening public service delivery. She urged Senator Dr Motsa to use the honorary doctorate as a platform to empower others, promote ethical leadership, and actively contribute to the fight against corruption and discrimination.
“Education is essential. Education is a gateway for an individual and the country’s growth,” said Minister Savannah, highlighting the transformative power of learning in building strong institutions and an informed society.
She further stressed the importance of governance as a foundation for effective leadership, accountability, and service to the people. Minister Maziya said the focus of the honorary doctorate resonated with the values Eswatini needs to uphold in both public and private sectors.
“It is encouraging that your PhD covers governance because it is very important that we have a foundation for all that we do so that we can be able to serve our people effectively. Without that foundation, we will not have honest governance or effectively fight corruption and discrimination. I am very proud that your PhD covers the things that we need to look at so diligently,” she said.
Leaders who are grounded in governance principles are better equipped to make ethical decisions, protect human dignity, and foster inclusive development. Education remains a key driver for empowering communities and ensuring integrity across institutions.
The honorary doctorate awarded to Senator Dr Motsa was hailed as a recognition of her commitment to governance, advocacy, and service, and as an inspiration to others to pursue academic excellence in areas that strengthen leadership and accountability in the country.
