MPOLONJENI – Motshane Inkhundla Member of Parliament Wilton Nkambule has praised Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo for sacrificing a lucrative career abroad to answer the call of national service, saying the decision has played a significant role in transforming Eswatini’s economic landscape.
Speaking during the official launch and handover of the Ingelo Certification Scheme production cottages at Motshane on Thursday, July 30, Nkambule said the minister’s decision to leave a well-paying job overseas after being recalled by His Majesty King Mswati III demonstrated patriotism and commitment to the country’s development.
“I would like to thank His Majesty the King for his wise leadership. The minister had a good and well-paying job abroad, but His Majesty recalled him back to Eswatini for national duty. The minister did not hesitate. He sacrificed his lucrative job and returned home to serve the nation,” said Nkambule.
The legislator said the minister’s contribution since returning to Eswatini had been visible across the country through various economic development initiatives.
“The Minister’s history is long. I can testify that since his return from abroad to serve the nation, he has transformed the country,” he said.
Nkambule described the minister as a leader who delivers results rather than making promises, saying his achievements speak for themselves.
“In Parliament, the minister does not talk much, but he delivers. He has facilitated the construction of a number of factory shells which we, as Members of Parliament, had been calling for,” he said.
He pointed to industrial developments in Nhlangano and Lavumisa as examples of the minister’s commitment to accelerating economic growth.
“He has indeed transformed the country. His development initiatives can be seen in places such as Nhlangano and Lavumisa, where there are world-class factory shells,” he added.
Nkambule further applauded the minister’s commitment to the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), saying support for small businesses had become one of the defining features of his leadership.
“MSMEs are close to the minister’s heart,” he said while thanking entrepreneurs who had showcased their products during the event.
The MP also expressed appreciation to the minister for visiting Motshane, saying the community regarded his presence as a sign that Government remained committed to uplifting all parts of the country.
“Your presence here is much appreciated as we believe you represent Their Majesties. As an Inkhundla, we appreciate your presence and wish that you continue to be involved in our development initiatives. We do not want to be left behind,” he said.
Nkambule used the occasion to appeal for further investment in the constituency, saying the area’s population of more than 35,000 people currently travelled to Hilton to buy household goods.
He said the construction of a supermarket, such as Spar, would be a major boost to the local economy and improve access to essential services for residents.
Looking ahead, the MP expressed confidence that the minister’s renewed focus on supporting local investors would unlock even greater economic opportunities for the country.
“With your focus now on local investors, Minister, I am sure we will witness development we have never seen before in Eswatini,” he said.
