MBABANE – The newly elected leadership of the Hhohho Regional Cuesports Association (HRCA) has moved swiftly to introduce major changes, beginning with the unveiling of a new association logo and a broader rebranding programme aimed at modernising the organisation.
The executive committee, led by Chairman Sithembiso “Dodge” Matsebula, says the changes reflect the wishes of affiliated teams who had called for fresh ideas, stronger leadership and a more progressive image for sports in the region.
According to Matsebula, the association took immediate steps after assuming office to ensure that member teams begin seeing visible improvements.“Teams had appealed for upgrades as an association, so we have taken action and rebranded not just the logo, but the association name as well,” said Matsebula.
The body was previously known as the Hhohho Regional Pool Association (HRPA), operating under the former administration. The transition to Hhohho Regional Cuesports Association is seen as a move to embrace the wider range of cue sporting disciplines and to align with the evolving structure of the sport.
Matsebula and his executive were elected during the annual general meeting held at Mater Dolorosa Primary School in Mbabane two weeks ago. Since then, the new leadership has begun reviewing operational structures and committee responsibilities.
The chairman said more internal changes are expected as the executive seeks to strengthen administration and improve service delivery to teams and players across the region.“These changes in executive also come with further changes in terms of the committees overseeing our operations,” he explained.
As part of the restructuring process, fresh elections will be held to fill vacant positions within the Mbabane/Mvutshini Zone Committee. The elections are scheduled for Saturday, May 2, at Mater Dolorosa Primary School.
The vacant posts to be contested are Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary General and Vice Secretary General.Matsebula encouraged member teams to identify capable and committed individuals who can help drive the game forward at zonal level.
He said strong committees are important in ensuring smooth league operations, player development and communication between teams and the regional executive.
The swift reforms introduced by the new leadership have already created optimism among stakeholders, with many viewing the developments as the beginning of a new era for cuesports administration in the Hhohho region.
