MBABANE– The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Appolo Maphalala, recently met with members of the Eswatini Realtors Association in Mbabane to discuss the Real Estate Bill currently under deliberation, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s property sector through stakeholder engagement and policy development.

According to information sourced from the Ministry’s official Facebook page, the meeting brought together the Association’s Chairperson Musa Nhleko, Assistant Secretary Refiloe Gama and Treasurer Crystal Hillary, who engaged the Minister on matters relating to the proposed legislation and the future growth of the real estate industry in Eswatini.

During the engagement, members of the Association presented their concerns and recommendations on the Bill, highlighting areas they believe require further clarity and consideration to ensure that the legislation effectively supports the real estate sector while also protecting the interests of stakeholders and strengthening regulation within the industry.

The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between Government and industry players to ensure that the final legislation responds to the practical realities and needs of professionals operating within the property market, as reflected in the Ministry’s communication.

Maphalala reportedly commended the Association for its organised structure and constructive engagement with the Ministry, noting that stakeholder participation plays an important role in shaping policies that contribute to national development and economic growth.

He further reaffirmed Government’s commitment to maintaining an open-door policy that encourages consultation, transparency and collaboration with stakeholders across different sectors.

The Minister also informed the Association that the Sectional Titles Act is now fully operational, encouraging property owners, developers and stakeholders within the real estate industry to utilise the framework and submit applications accordingly.

The operationalisation of the Act is expected to support improved property ownership structures and create more opportunities within the housing and property market.

The engagement highlighted Government’s continued efforts to strengthen Eswatini’s housing and urban development sector through inclusive dialogue, improved legislation and partnerships with industry stakeholders aimed at promoting investment, professionalism and sustainable growth within the real estate industry.
