MATSAPHA– Her Royal Highness (HRH) Inkhosikati LaNtenteza has appealed to emaSwati to embrace the spirit of being “a brother’s keeper” by supporting Cheshire Homes Eswatini, saying the institution depends on collective support to continue providing specialised rehabilitation and therapy services to people living with disabilities.
The message was delivered on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Cheshire Homes Eswatini in Matsapha, where Her Royal Highness Princess Phumelele represented the Inkhosikati during a donation handover by Taiwan’s Hope Eswatini medical team.
In a speech read on her behalf, the Inkhosikati expressed profound appreciation to the friends of the Kingdom of Eswatini from Taiwan for their generous support. She said the Kingdom greatly values its enduring friendship with the Republic of China (Taiwan), adding that such partnerships continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of emaSwati.
The Inkhosikati described Cheshire Homes as a vital institution that provides specialised rehabilitation and therapy services to people affected by road traffic accidents, strokes, developmental delays and other conditions requiring professional care. She said the facility has become an important national centre for rehabilitation, restoring hope, dignity and independence to people from across the country.
She also thanked His Majesty’s Government for its continued financial support to Cheshire Homes, saying it has enabled the institution to fulfil its mandate of providing professional rehabilitation services to those in need.
However, she noted that Cheshire Homes continues to face increasing financial pressure as the number of clients grows while donor funding continues to decline globally. She said the majority of the institution’s clients are unable to afford the cost of their medical and rehabilitation services, making continued support from the public more important than ever.
“Our home needs support from every Liswati because we are all candidates for Cheshire Homes,” the Inkhosikati said.
She urged emaSwati to support people living with disabilities and ensure they are not left behind in the country’s development. She said caring for vulnerable members of society should be a shared responsibility embraced by every citizen.
“We appeal to every Liswati to practise the slogan of being a brother’s keeper, meaning that we have a big task of reaching and supporting people who need help, particularly people with disabilities who are usually left behind in the mainstream of development,” she said.
Looking to the future, the Inkhosikati said Cheshire Homes aspires to become a centre of excellence in rehabilitation by providing state-of-the-art rehabilitation and therapy services. She revealed that the institution plans to construct Eswatini’s first aqua therapy pool, which will introduce modern treatment for children and adults living with spastic disorders.
She further encouraged friends and partners of Cheshire Homes to continue supporting the institution’s work, expressing hope that the strong friendship between Eswatini and Taiwan would continue to grow and attract even more support for the benefit of people living with disabilities.
The Inkhosikati said the latest donation reflected the spirit of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and would strengthen Cheshire Homes’ ability to continue delivering essential rehabilitation services.
“Today’s donation will give our home a lifeline,” she concluded.
The donation presented by Taiwan’s Hope Eswatini medical team included US$700 (approximately E12 800), 200 kilograms of rice, a wheelchair and feminine underwear. The contribution is expected to strengthen rehabilitation services and improve the welfare of beneficiaries at Cheshire Homes.
