MBANGWENI – Indvuna Yembali Bongiwe ‘Vivane’ Hlatjwako has called on Imbali to take their education seriously, reminding them that education remains key to building a bright future as the second leg of Umhlanga 2026 concluded at Mbangweni Royal Residence in the Shiselweni Region.
Hlatjwako encouraged the maidens to remain committed to their studies as they return to their respective homes, emphasising the need to carry the value of education beyond the annual cultural gathering.
Her message placed focus on the role of education in preparing Imbali for their future, encouraging them to give their studies the same attention they give to their participation in Umhlanga. She also thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the second leg, recognising their efforts in supporting the programme at Mbangweni Royal Residence.
She further expressed gratitude to His Majesty King Mswati III for the parting gifts presented to the maidens as they prepared to leave the royal residence. The appreciation for the gifts formed part of Hlatjwako’s closing remarks, as she acknowledged the gesture towards Imbali at the conclusion of the second leg.
She also encouraged the maidens to make practical use of the knowledge and lessons shared with them during Umhlanga, including information relating to their health and wellbeing. She emphasised the importance of carrying this knowledge beyond the royal residence and applying it in their everyday lives as they return to their respective communities.
The second leg of Umhlanga brought Imbali from Eswatini and outside the country together at Mbangweni Royal Residence to participate in the annual cultural proceedings. With the reed dance coming to an end, Hlatjwako’s message provided a practical reminder for the maidens to apply the lessons of commitment and discipline to their education.
She also wished Imbali a safe journey back home, and acknowledged their participation in the annual Reed Dance. Her closing message combined encouragement for academic commitment with appreciation for those who supported the programme and His Majesty’s gesture towards the maidens.
