MBABANE – 36-year-old man from koNtjingila has officially challenged reigning boxing exhibition champ Prophet Vusi “Major V” Dlamini ahead of the 2025 Eswatini Biggest Braai.
The challenger, Khaya Kwesaba, fired his shot this week, saying he’s ready to bring the heat, not to the grill, but to the ring. “I’m not coming to the braai for steak. I’m coming for the strap,” he warned, with a tone that’s got the streets talking.
The 9th edition of the Biggest Braai is set for July 26 at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre, and with this spicy challenge, fans can expect more than just meat and music.
The showdown between Major V and Khaya is shaping up to be one for the books.
Khaya, who grew up trading blows in dusty village showdowns he called emahleza, said the fire to fight never left him. “We sharpened our skills with sticks and fists, testing strength, respect and pride,” he recalled. “That’s where my love for boxing was born.”
He said watching last year’s bout between Major V and Mphandlan Shongwe reawakened that hunger.
“That fight reminded me of those village duels. It was electric. But it also showed that Major V is no joke. That’s why I want him. I want to test my skill against the best.”
Philani Maswati Charity Organisation Chairman Lutfo Dlamini confirmed the challenge was officially received.
“This is the kind of energy we like,” Dlamini said. “Khaya is bringing the Shiselweni spirit and Major V, he’s not the type to back down. The ring is calling.”
Dlamini said the exhibition match would once again be the highlight of the event, alongside entertainment, fun activities and comedy matches.
“Let’s not forget our reigning comedy king Stufuza Wecountry. He’s still waiting for a challenger too,” he teased.
As the gloves get laced and the tension builds, one question remains: will Major V defend his crown or will Khaya from koNtjingila shake up the status quo?
Either way, July 26 is no longer just a braai, it’s a brawl.
