MANZINI – In a pulsating climax to the Instacash School Soccer Tournament, the Mavuso Sports Centre bore witness to a football spectacle that will be etched in the memories of fans for years to come. The final clash between Manzini Central and Evelyn Baring High School was nothing short of a pound-for-pound thriller, a true test of skill, heart, and resilience.
From the first whistle, the intensity was palpable. Manzini Central, buoyed by the electric atmosphere, launched a series of attacks with Quality Dlamini orchestrating the offense with flair and finesse. Dlamini’s dazzling footwork and vision created two glaring goal-scoring opportunities early on, thrilling the crowd and setting the tone for a fiercely competitive match. Meanwhile, Teboho Juries Dlamini, the midfield maestro and undisputed dictator of the park, controlled the tempo with surgical precision, spraying passes like seeds in a fertile field, sowing hope and danger in equal measure.
But Evelyn Baring High School was not to be outdone. As the first half drew to a close, Smanga “Kante Magagula”, the midfield magician, rose to the occasion. The second half saw Evelyn Baring return with renewed determination. Kante bulldozed through every midfield duel, distributing the ball with pinpoint accuracy to the ever-smiling, mercurial left winger known simply as Madlenya. Wearing the number 7 jersey, Madlenya’s fearless dribbling and relentless pressure gave Manzini Central’s defenders a torrid time, a blessing for Baring as they sought to break the deadlock.
As the final whistle blew, the scoreline remained stubbornly level. Both teams, exhausted yet unyielding, battled through extra time with heart and zeal. The tension crescendoed into a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. It was here that Evelyn Baring’s hero emerged goalkeeper Lihle Mhlungu. With that save, Evelyn Baring High School, the wild card representatives from Hhohho, etched their name in history by lifting the Instacash 2025 trophy.
