KUKHANYENI – Kukhanyeni Ladies have been crowned champions of the second edition of the Nkomiyahlaba Women Zonal League following a presentation ceremony attended by the Women Football Association Executive Committee and hosted under the leadership of Indvuna Vuyiso Motsa of Kukhanyeni.
The event, held to honour outstanding women’s football talent in the zone, saw Sibuyeni Ladies finishing as runners-up after a competitive season that highlighted growing standards in grassroots women’s football in Eswatini.
The ceremony brought together league officials, team management, players, and community stakeholders who gathered to celebrate the conclusion of the zonal competition. Kukhanyeni Ladies were officially presented with their championship recognition after a strong campaign, while Sibuyeni Ladies were applauded for securing second place in a tightly contested tournament that showcased discipline, resilience, and teamwork throughout the season.
The presentation was graced by the Women Football Association Executive Committee, which commended the players for their commitment and the teams for their competitive spirit. Officials noted that the league continues to serve as an important platform for developing women footballers at grassroots level, creating opportunities for talent identification and progression into higher levels of the game.
Motsa emphasized the importance of sport in empowering young women and strengthening community unity. He highlighted that initiatives such as the Nkomiyahlaba Women Zonal League play a vital role in keeping young people engaged while promoting discipline and healthy lifestyles.
The Women Football Association also expressed appreciation to the management teams of both Kukhanyeni and Sibuyeni Ladies for their dedication in ensuring the smooth running of their respective squads throughout the competition.
