MANZINI – The long-awaited Lost In Music Concert brought an evening of live music, classical performance and warmth to Sibayeni Lodge on Saturday, with the Bokamoso Art Institute taking audiences through a programme that celebrated both established and emerging musical talent.
The concert opened on a high note with the stage under the control of Mr Tlometsana, setting the tone for an event built around live orchestral performance. The performances placed the musicians at the heart of the concert, with the baton guiding the ensemble through its set as audiences settled into the Sibayeni Lodge venue.
The programme also featured Mr Gqasana, who took to the stage during the concert, adding another voice to an evening that brought together different generations and styles of performers. One of the notable moments came when Dr Hugh Magagula was honoured during the concert, adding a tribute element to the night’s musical programme.
The event continued with Mr Mel’sizwe Zwane taking over the stage to conduct the Bokamoso Art Institute, maintaining the live orchestral sound that had become one of the concert’s defining features. The concert also made room for more fun when legendary performer Mr Fraiser took the audience back to Vukuyibambe, giving the crowd an opportunity to reconnect with a familiar piece of musical history.
With its combination of orchestral performance, live vocals, tributes and songs that carried memories for many in the audience, Lost In Music lived up to its name by moving between the present and sounds from the past.
Held at Sibayeni Lodge on Saturday, the concert ultimately became more than a series of performances, bringing musicians and audiences together around live music while giving established works and artists space to be remembered and celebrated.
