EZULWINI – Minister of Housing and Urban Development Appolo Maphalala has applauded the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs for partnering with his ministry in the staging of the MTN Khemani Road Classic.
Maphalala made the remarks through Principal Secretary Dr Simon Zwane during the official launch of the 12th edition of the MTN Khemani Road Classic held at the MTN headquarters, Mahlalekhukwini House, in Ezulwini.
The Minister described the partnership between the two ministries as a positive demonstration of what can be achieved when government institutions work together towards a common goal.
He commended the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs for his commitment to his portfolio, saying his ministry had continued to provide hope by bringing people together through sport.
“Minister, it is a pleasure indeed to partner with you and your ministry,” Maphalala said.
He further praised the Minister for the work he has done since entering politics and taking up the sports portfolio, noting that the collaboration between the ministries was an example of the value of partnerships.
Maphalala said the partnership demonstrated that when people come together, they can achieve what they want to achieve, highlighting the importance of cooperation in ensuring the success of initiatives such as the MTN Khemani Road Classic.
The MTN Khemani Road Classic has become an important fixture on Eswatini’s cycling calendar, bringing together cyclists and stakeholders while promoting sport and healthy lifestyles.
The 12th edition is being staged with the support of various partners, with the government ministries playing a role in creating an enabling environment for the event.
Maphalala’s remarks reaffirmed the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development’s commitment to working with the sports ministry and other stakeholders to support initiatives that bring people together and contribute to national development.
