MANZINI– Local hit “Mkhuzeni” to drop in a new remix on 5 September 2025.

The iconic house track Mkhuzeni, originally released last year under Blackdegree Music by Le Kronik and Kalulu, is getting a fresh twist. Local producer Sisso has reimagined the track with an afrotech remix set to release on 5 September 2025.

Le Kronik shared the journey behind the song, saying the original had its fair share of studio challenges. “We had a dope studio session with vocals clipping, and had to do quite a number of retakes. The reception after its release was great, streams were strong for a second project under Blackdegree Music,” he said. He explained that Mkhuzeni is “an expression of trusting your dopeness and belief that the best is yet to come.”

The excitement for the remix was high. “I was excited, knowing how much of a dope producer he is. I knew he would deliver; he hardly misses,” Le Kronik added. He believes the remix captures the essence of the original and anticipates it will be loved by fans both locally and internationally, hoping it gains traction in DJ sets.

Sisso, the mastermind behind the remix, revealed his vision for the track. “Honestly, I loved the original track, and Le Kronik and I have been planning a collab for years. With Kalulu on Mkhuzeni, I wanted to explore that energy, take the vocal’s essence, and place it in an afrotech groove, ready for the floor, while still honoring the song’s soul.”

He described his creative approach: “I kept the vocal phrases as the emotional anchor, restructured the arrangement, and added textures so the remix feels new but familiar. Expect a physical, deep low end and a gritty mid-bass with small timing shifts in the percussion. The vocal repeats and echoes turn the lyric into a haunting hook, a hypnotic, deep take that still leaves space for the lyric to khuza.”

Sisso explained that crafting the remix wasn’t without its challenges. “This was probably the fourth version, and balancing the menacing bass with clear vocals took careful trimming, layering, and listening. It was about finding the emotional sweet spot, with minor chords and synths, giving depth without overshadowing the message.”

Reflecting on the milestone, Sisso said, “This remix is my first solo release. I hope local artists continue to create opportunities for collaborations, get more ears on our scene, and show younger producers that bold ideas can take you places. For me, it’s motivation to keep building, mentoring, and pushing the local scene forward. More is on the way.”

With Mkhuzeni (Sisso Afrotech Remix) set to drop on 5 September 2025, fans can expect a hypnotic rework that honors the original while bringing a fresh, dancefloor-ready energy.
