MAYIWANE – Excitement is building ahead of the Eswatini Schools Sports Association (ESSA) Mayiwane Sub Finals scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Mkhuzweni Technical Centre, where schools from the area will battle for top honours in soccer and netball.
The one-day sporting event is expected to bring together young athletes, teachers, parents and community members for a day filled with competition and entertainment. Matches will run from 11am until 3pm, with three finals lined up.
The action will begin with the ladies’ soccer final at 11am, where Mayiwane will take on Ekubongeni in what promises to be an exciting clash. Both sides will be looking to finish the tournament strongly and lift the championship title.
At noon, attention will shift to the netball court as Nyakatfo face Mayiwane in the netball final. The encounter is expected to showcase the growing strength of school netball in the area, with both teams eager to prove themselves on the big stage.
The day will conclude with the boys’ soccer final at 1pm, featuring Ekubongeni against Ludzibini. Supporters are expected to turn out in numbers as the two teams battle for glory in the final match of the tournament.
Organisers believe the competition will not only promote sports development but also encourage unity and discipline among young people. The three finals scheduled in for the day are expected to deliver thrilling moments and celebrate sporting talent within the Mayiwane sub-region.
