NHLANGANO – Mpini Cosmos were crowned INSTACASH Shiselweni Northern Super League champions after defeating Mpini Rovers 2-1 during finals played at Etjendlovu Sports Ground on Saturday.
Cosmos walked away with the championship title following a hard-fought tournament that attracted football supporters from across the region.Both sides came into the final determined to lift the trophy after progressing through the earlier stages of the competition. The match produced exciting moments as the two teams battled for dominance.
Mpini Cosmos showed determination and composure throughout the encounter, managing to find the back of the net twice to edge past their rivals. Mpini Rovers also put up a strong fight and managed to score once, but it was not enough to stop Cosmos from claiming the title.
The tournament started earlier in the day with semi-final clashes featuring Combined Stars, Mpini Rovers, Mpini Cosmos and Hlathikhulu FC. The event also included a social match involving INSTACASH Social and SRFA Social before the much-anticipated final took centre stage.
The competition once again highlighted the growth of grassroots football in the Shiselweni Region, while also providing players with an opportunity to showcase their talent.The tournament was supported by Joma Sport South Africa and Orchard Insurance, who partnered with organisers to make the event a success.
