MANKAYANE– Eswatini rising star Sandile Dlamini, professionally known as Kidtee99, is making a bold statement in the local industry: music is not just about vibes — it’s also about motivation and inspiring people.
Born and raised in Mankayane, the independent artist is proving that the dance floor can be a place for both rhythm and reflection.
His musical foundation was built long before he ever stepped into a professional studio. At the tender age of five, Kidtee99 was already honing his leadership skills as a Sunday school choir leader. “That’s where my passion for music was born,” he recalls, noting that those early years in the church instilled in him a sense of purpose that continues to resonate through his modern-day productions.
Kidtee99’s professional evolution took a significant leap in 2018 when he began recording with the group Skydote. While this collaborative chapter provided him with essential industry experience, his artistic vision eventually demanded a more personal canvas. This led to a major turning point last year when he realized he needed to stand on his own. “In 2023 I decided to go solo to fully express my vision and sound as an independent artist,” Kidtee99 explains, a move that has already seen him release four successful singles on major digital stores.
Musically, the Mankayane native has found his home in the infectious rhythms of 3Step and dance music. However, what truly sets him apart from his peers is the intentionality behind the beat. He believes that music should do more than just provide a background for a night out; it should serve as a source of encouragement. “What sets me apart is that my music is not just about vibes — it’s also about motivation and inspiring people,” he says, highlighting his unique ability to bridge the gap between high-energy club rhythms and uplifting messages.
As he continues to build his brand, Kidtee99 remains a proud ambassador of Eswatini’s local talent. He is currently focused on representing the Kingdom on the global stage, ensuring his sound reaches listeners far beyond the borders of his hometown. To that end, fans can look forward to fresh material very soon. “I’m currently working on a new single dropping on the 6th of March as I continue building my brand and representing Eswatini through music,” he noted.
