MANZINI – The fire is about to get serious.

What happens when a love for braai meets live music and local culture? Nhlangano is set to find out when the town hosts its inaugural Nhlangano Best Braai on 31 October.

The event will bring food, entertainment and cultural experiences together at King Sobhuza II Stadium, where organisers expect the braai to be more than just an afternoon around the fire.

Running from 6am to 6pm, the event is built around the social side of braai culture, with people expected to gather with friends and family while enjoying food and entertainment.

One of the biggest draws on the entertainment side will be South African rapper Beast RSA, who is scheduled to perform at the event. His appearance adds a musical element to a day otherwise centred on food and culture, giving attendees another reason to spend the day at the stadium.

The event also carries the slogan “Akusinyama Bu Tsegetsege,” placing meat and the enjoyment of a proper braai firmly at the centre of its identity. For Nhlangano, the event offers an opportunity to put the town’s social and cultural energy on display while creating a space where food becomes a meeting point for different generations.

Braai culture has long been associated with gathering, conversation and celebration, and the organisers are attempting to bring those elements together under one event. With the first edition still ahead, the challenge will be turning the promise of a big day of food, music and culture into an experience that people will want to return to.

For now, Nhlangano is preparing to light the fires, fill the stadium and see whether its inaugural braai can become a new fixture on Eswatini’s entertainment calendar.
