NKAMANZI– Residents of Nkamanzi (Phasa Mdzimba) are looking forward to a future of greater opportunities following the official launch of a comprehensive development plan designed to guide the chiefdom’s social, economic and environmental growth for years to come.
The Nkamanzi Chiefdom Development Plan (CDP) was officially launched on July 30, 2026, at Nkamanzi Chiefdom, where Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development S’khumbuzo Dlamini formally handed the document over to Prince Gija.
The plan is expected to help community members identify priorities, mobilise resources and implement projects aimed at improving livelihoods, strengthening local institutions and promoting sustainable development.
Developed through an extensive consultation process, the plan reflects the aspirations of residents and provides a clear framework for addressing the chiefdom’s immediate and long-term needs.
Speaking during the launch, Dlamini said the unveiling of the document marked the culmination of months of engagement, collaboration and collective decision-making.
“It is an immense honour and a profound privilege to witness the launch of the Nkamanzi Chiefdom Development Plan today. This occasion is more than the mere unveiling of a document; it is the culmination of months of dedicated work, thoughtful dialogue and profound collaboration,” he said.
Dlamini said the plan represented a shared vision created by the people of Nkamanzi themselves.
“It is a testament to the collective wisdom of this community, harmonised into a shared vision for development and progress. This plan is not an external imposition, but rather the genuine product of a participatory process informed by the insights and aspirations of the people,” he said.
According to the minister, the Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development, through the Community Development Department, is mandated to facilitate, promote and support community-based socio-economic initiatives using grassroots and participatory approaches.
He explained that the Chiefdom Development Plan programme was established to empower communities to identify, prioritise and implement projects that directly address local challenges while unlocking opportunities for growth.
Dlamini added that sustainable development could only be achieved when communities took ownership of the process and worked collectively towards common goals.
Prince Gija described the development plan as a true reflection of the hopes and ambitions of the people of Nkamanzi.
“The foundation of this development plan lies in its unique approach to community involvement. Unlike many top-down development strategies, the Nkamanzi Chiefdom’s plan emerged from an exhaustive process of collective reflection and dialogue,” he said.
He explained that every member of the community had been encouraged to participate, ensuring that the final document reflected a broad range of perspectives.
“Every voice mattered, from the wisdom of village elders to the innovative spirit of young people. This inclusive approach ensures that the development strategy genuinely represents the aspirations and needs of the entire Nkamanzi community,” Prince Gija said.
Community leaders believe the initiative will help accelerate progress in several areas by creating a structured approach to development while strengthening partnerships between residents, government institutions and development stakeholders.
For the people of Nkamanzi, the launch of the plan represents more than the unveiling of a document. It marks the beginning of a collective journey towards a stronger, more prosperous and more sustainable future.
