LOBAMBA – Improvements in water supply and electricity access in Nkhomiyahlaba constituency have been applauded in Parliament, with the area’s Member of Parliament, Mduduzi M. Dlamini, praising the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy for enhancing essential services for residents.

The MP made the remarks during a parliamentary sitting while responding to the presentation of the Ministry’s Annual Performance Report by the Minister of Natural Resources and Energy, HRH Prince Lonkhokhela. The report outlined the Ministry’s progress and priorities as part of discussions linked to the upcoming 2026/27 budget allocation.

Dlamini expressed appreciation for the significant progress made in improving access to basic services within the constituency. He said the interventions undertaken by the Ministry had brought meaningful improvements to the daily lives of many residents.

According to the MP, Nkhomiyahlaba is now home to one of the country’s largest water sources following Government’s intervention to strengthen water supply systems in the area. The development has ensured that communities have access to a more reliable and consistent supply of water.

He explained that improved water access has brought relief to households that previously faced challenges obtaining clean water. Residents can now meet their daily domestic needs more easily, while some families are also using the available water to support small-scale farming activities that contribute to food security and household income.

Electricity access has also improved considerably in the constituency. Dlamini noted that Nkhomiyahlaba, which is a relatively new constituency, previously lagged behind in electricity connectivity. However, through ongoing electrification programmes, most households are now connected to the national grid.

The MP said the improved access to electricity has created new opportunities for families and small businesses in the area. Learners are now able to study during evening hours, while entrepreneurs can extend their working hours and operate more efficiently.

He added that these improvements are gradually strengthening livelihoods and enhancing the overall quality of life for a large number of residents within the constituency.

While acknowledging that some infrastructure challenges such as poor road conditions still exist in the area, Dlamini commended the Ministry for continuing to deliver essential services despite logistical difficulties.

He emphasised that his remarks were intended not only to commend the Ministry, but also to recognise the progress achieved and encourage continued efforts to expand development initiatives across communities.

The discussion in Parliament also highlighted the importance of cooperation between Government, traditional leadership and communities in sustaining development programmes. Dlamini expressed optimism that continued investment in infrastructure and service delivery would further improve living standards in Nkhomiyahlaba and other constituencies across the country.
