MANZINI– The OGF (Optimistic Generation Forever) Movement is officially breathing new life into the local dramatic arts scene as they move into the next phase of their theatre group’s revival.
Following a highly anticipated “Call for Actors,” registration has officially closed, and the focus now shifts to the 12 selected actors and actresses who will join the ensemble to relaunch the group with a major upcoming production.
According to OGF Movement leader Tony Anthonimass Mabaso, this initiative is a “golden opportunity” designed to ensure that local talent is nurtured rather than wasted. The group, which first launched in 2023, is undergoing a powerful revival after a brief interruption. By limiting this intake to 12 new members, the group aims to maintain a high standard of specialised training while integrating them into the current roster of existing actors.
Joining the OGF Theatre Group comes with significant professional benefits for the members. Actors will receive elite training from some of the most highly qualified directors in Eswatini, ensuring they reach their full potential on stage. Beyond technical skill, the group offers a professional structure where members receive a share of every paying gig, ensuring their hard work is rewarded.
“We encourage actors, especially the youth, to take part in this group since it will help them in many ways—from physical to mental,” Mabaso stated. He emphasized that even those without prior experience were encouraged to apply, as the movement’s mission is to train individuals to become “the best actors the country has ever produced”.
The group specifically targeted youth between the ages of 14 and 35, aiming to provide a constructive outlet that keeps young people busy and focused on their talents. This aligns with OGF’s core values of Integrity, Accountability, Accessibility, and Authenticity.
Looking ahead, OGF Theatre Group is positioning itself as a primary source for talent scouting in the region. The group intends to act as a rich talent pool for international filmmakers seeking Eswatini actors, leveraging their specialty in high-quality theatre production.
The newly formed team will gather for their orientation and first rehearsal on January 24, 2026, at 12:30 PM at the Arts and Culture Headquarters in Manzini. This session marks the first step toward the group’s ambitious relaunch show, which promises to be a landmark event for the “Christian Art Management” movement.
