EZULWINI – Phoenix of Eswatini Assurance Limited has emerged as a leading force in Africa’s insurance industry, building a strong reputation anchored on innovation, resilience, and customer-centred service delivery.
On Friday, June 12, 2026, the company marked a major milestone celebrating 10 years of operations in Eswatini during a prestigious black-tie gala held at Happy Valley Hotel, where it also officially unveiled its new corporate identity.
The elegant celebration brought together government officials, business leaders, regulators, partners, and stakeholders, all gathered to reflect on a decade of growth, transformation, and meaningful contribution to Eswatini’s financial services sector.
The Minister of Finance, Hon. Neal Rijkenberg, officially launched the new brand identity, commending the company for its consistent contribution to strengthening the insurance industry and supporting national economic development.
In his keynote address, he said: “Ten years in business is a noteworthy achievement. It represents resilience, discipline, sound leadership and the ability to adapt to changing market conditions. In the insurance industry, where trust is the foundation of success, reaching this milestone demonstrates that customers have continued to place confidence in the company and its ability to deliver on its promises.”
He further emphasised the importance of the insurance sector in promoting financial security, mobilising long-term savings, facilitating investment, and strengthening economic resilience. He encouraged industry players to advance financial inclusion by developing accessible and innovative insurance products that serve all segments of society, including rural communities, youth, women, and small businesses.
The Minister also urged the sector to intensify efforts in addressing climate-related risks through innovative solutions such as agricultural insurance, disaster risk protection, and climate resilience financing.
The first Phoenix operation was established in 1992 and has since expanded across nine African markets, earning a strong reputation for reliability, innovation, and customer-focused insurance solutions. Today, the group operates in nine countries, with Eswatini becoming its eighth market in 2016.
Founder and Chairman of Phoenix Group of Companies, Maheboob Alibhai, said Eswatini continues to hold a strategic place in the company’s continental expansion journey.
He said: “We started as a small team with one ambition: reliable, value-priced insurance delivered with transparency and trust. Over the years, we have built strong teams and enduring partnerships grounded in service excellence.”
He added that the company’s rebrand reflects both renewal and forward momentum, reinforcing its ambition to remain a Pan-African insurer of choice.
The Director of Phoenix of Eswatini, Hon. Senator Sylvia Mthethwa, said: “This milestone marks not only ten years of service, but also a renewed commitment to excellence, innovation, and the people of Eswatini. We are proud of the journey and even more excited for the future ahead.”
In a welcoming address on behalf of the Board and management, leadership expressed gratitude to clients, staff, and partners for their unwavering support over the decade.
They noted that the anniversary represents both reflection and renewal, with the new corporate identity symbolising transformation, progress, and a strengthened vision for the future.
The evening was crowned by a cake-cutting ceremony and celebratory toast, marking a decade of achievement and the beginning of a promising new chapter.
