HLANE – In a town where dreams often disappear beyond the horizon, one voice is refusing to fade. That voice belongs to Saneliso Shongwe, better known by his stage name Sayz — a fast-rising artist whose signature deep vocals and genre-blending sound are shaking up the local music scene.

Born and raised in Hlane, Sayz discovered his love for music early, singing at school assemblies at Dlalisile Primary and Dlalisile National High. “Back then, we recorded demos on our phones and shared them like treasure,” he recalls with a smile. “That’s where it all started.”

But the road from passion to profession wasn’t always clear. Like many young talents, Sayz battled self-doubt after seeing other local artists struggle to break through. “It was hard to believe this could be more than just a dream,” he admits.

Everything changed in 2024 when music producer Shakes Aj entered the picture. With a clear vision and unwavering belief in Sayz’s potential, Shakes helped reignite the flame. “He reminded me why I started,” Sayz says. “He made me believe in myself again.”

In January 2025, Sayz officially signed with Detail Studios 88, launching his professional music career. His breakout single “Love Me” didn’t just win hearts — it made waves, proving he had the talent and the voice to go far. His unique blend of Hip Hop, R&B, Afro, and Drill sets him apart in a crowded field. “I don’t like being boxed in,” he says. “Each track should feel like something new.”

Tracks like “It’s Alright”, a gospel-inspired anthem born from prayer and personal growth, show his emotional depth and versatility. Beyond the mic, Sayz is also a fan of pool, using the game as a creative recharge.

He’s already worked with artists like Ayanda Dlamini, HMSIIC, JST Bobo, and Ruth Carlson from Sweden. “Working with Ruth was a turning point,” he says. “It wasn’t just collaboration — it was a masterclass.”

Now, fans eagerly await his next single “Going Out” featuring JST Bobo, dropping May 16. “It’s a love song about truly expressing your feelings,” Sayz explains. “It’s real. People will feel it.”

With a growing fan base, authentic sound, and fearless ambition, Sayz isn’t just another emerging artist — he’s the voice of a new generation. And he’s just getting started.
