MBABANE – The Kingdom of Eswatini is intensifying efforts to attract industrial investment and expand its production base following renewed engagement with Taiwanese investors held on April 22, 2026 at the Mountain View Hotel.

The engagement, coordinated by the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA), brought together institutional stakeholders including the Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) and Business Eswatini, who outlined infrastructure readiness and private sector capacity to support industrial expansion. The discussions reinforced Eswatini’s positioning as a manufacturing and export-oriented economy.

Deputy Ambassador Minister Ching-lin Tsui reaffirmed Taiwan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation, stating that, “We are moving into a phase where discussions must translate into real investment, skills transfer, and industrial development that benefits both economies.”

Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Ambassador Melusi Masuku, emphasized policy direction and investment stability, noting that, “Eswatini is deliberately building a predictable and enabling environment that supports long-term industrial growth and investor confidence.”

Leader of the Taiwanese delegation, Ray Lin, highlighted Eswatini’s strategic role in regional expansion, saying, “Eswatini offers a stable and strategic platform for investors seeking access to African markets, supported by growing infrastructure and strong institutional cooperation.”

A major focus of the engagement was the Taiwan Industrial and Innovation Park (TIIP), which is increasingly being viewed as a key driver for industrial investment, manufacturing growth, and technology transfer between the two countries.

Discussions also pointed to priority sectors including agro-processing, textiles, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, packaging, and manufacturing, where both sides see strong potential for partnership and value-chain development.

The engagement reflects a gradual shift in Eswatini’s investment landscape toward structured industrialisation, with increasing emphasis on export readiness, job creation, and long-term economic transformation.
