KWALUSENI– South African Amapiano sensation Thatohatsi brought the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) Sports Emporium to life on Friday night, delivering a thrilling performance that sent students and music lovers into a frenzy following the Mr and Miss UNESWA pageant.
The vocalist headlined the post-pageant entertainment programme, drawing hundreds of excited fans who packed the venue to witness one of Amapiano’s fast-rising stars. Her performance transformed the campus into a sea of flashing lights, loud cheers and nonstop dancing as supporters celebrated youth, music and fashion under one roof.
Opening her set with the crowd-favourite Abantwana Bakho, Thatohatsi immediately captured the audience’s attention and set the tone for an unforgettable night. Fans sang along word for word, waving their phones in the air while others rushed closer to the stage to catch a glimpse of the star performer.
The atmosphere grew even more electric as the singer continued delivering hit after hit, with security personnel working hard to manage the enthusiastic crowd. Throughout her performance, Thatohatsi maintained a strong connection with her audience, creating memorable moments that kept the energy levels soaring from beginning to end.
The event followed the highly anticipated Mr and Miss UNESWA pageant, which had already attracted large numbers of students and visitors earlier in the evening. Organisers revealed that booking Thatohatsi was a strategic move aimed at connecting with the youth audience due to her growing influence within the Amapiano genre.
Known for her soulful vocals and collaborations with industry heavyweights including Kabza De Small, Kelvin Momo and DJ Maphorisa, Thatohatsi’s return to Eswatini was warmly welcomed by local fans following her previous headline performance at Mdzimba View Shisanyama.
The entertainment line-up also featured performances from DJ Obsession, Lady Zee, Aya City, Bandora, Sbu De DrumDJ, Coolboy, Bongswa and MC Sintour, all of whom contributed to a vibrant programme that perfectly complemented the pageant’s fashion and talent showcases.
Students described the night as one of the most memorable entertainment experiences on campus, with many singling out Thatohatsi’s performance as the standout moment.
“Thatohatsi won our hearts through her performance because it added more entertainment to our pageant,” said Thabani Mdluli.
