MBABANE– Amapiano artist Umshayi SD is preparing to release his new single “Zero Hour”, marking a bold statement for Eswatini’s music industry.
Junior Nkambule, known by his stage name Umshayi SD, is steadily building his presence in the Amapiano scene with a clear mission to represent Eswatini on a global stage. Since beginning his music journey in 2019, he has focused on developing a unique sound that reflects both his growth and the country’s evolving music identity.
His upcoming single, Zero Hour, carries a concept that goes beyond its title. Although the phrase is not mentioned in the lyrics, it symbolises a defining moment a point where there is no turning back. “Zero Hour is that exact moment of the countdown where there’s no turning back,” he said. The track represents what he describes as a breakthrough moment for Eswatini music, signalling a shift from being fans of the genre to becoming creators of world-class Amapiano.
The sound of the track is bold and energetic, moving away from softer tones often associated with the genre. “It’s a groovy song but it carries a heavy fighting spirit,” he explained. The intention, he added, is to create something that feels powerful and makes a lasting impression on listeners.
Production is led by Lacks, with Sintour also contributing to the project. The collaboration is expected to add depth to the track, while a surprise feature from a South African artist is set to further elevate its reach.
Umshayi SD expressed confidence in the upcoming release, stating that it could become one of the country’s biggest songs this year. “We want to show the world that Eswatini makes world-class Amapiano and we are here to stay,” he said. With its release scheduled for the end of May, Zero Hour is already building anticipation, as fans look forward to a track that aims to position Eswatini firmly within the global Amapiano movement.
