MBABANE– The EU-Eswatini Youth Sounding Board (YSB) has outlined its six-month work plans aimed at strengthening youth participation in development discussions and ensuring young people have a greater voice in decision-making processes.
The plans were presented today, 19 August 2026, during an engagement between YSB members and Ms Eva Maria, Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Eswatini, held at the EU Office in Mbabane.
The thematic groups presented their proposed activities for the next six months, highlighting areas where young people intend to contribute solutions, influence development programming and ensure that youth perspectives are incorporated into key discussions.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for members to reflect on the YSB journey, from the application and shortlisting stages to interviews, final selection and onboarding.
Following their onboarding training held from May 10 to 14, members were assigned to thematic groups and tasked with developing work plans that would guide their contribution to youth engagement and development initiatives.
The Youth Sounding Board provides a platform for young people to engage with the European Union on issues affecting youth and to contribute their perspectives to development cooperation.
The engagement with the EU Delegation comes as the YSB moves from its establishment and training phase into the implementation of activities outlined in its thematic work plans.
The initiative underscores the importance of involving young people in discussions and processes that directly affect their future, with the YSB reaffirming its commitment to the principle: “Nothing about youth without youth.”
