The fair, a collaborative initiative involving Made in Eswatini, A Peculiar People, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade, and the Mbabane Municipality, aims to promote locally produced goods while strengthening the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Showcasing innovation and entrepreneurship

During his tour, Minister Khumalo visited a range of exhibition stalls, engaging directly with entrepreneurs and learning more about their products and services.

Among the exhibitors were Touch of Soul, where the Minister received a personalised T-shirt, as well as organisations such as Enactus, Eswatini Small and Medium Enterprises Association, LEAP Taxi, Business Eswatini, Funding Eswatini Youth Businesses, Old Mutual, Parmalat, and Sine Leather & Luna.

The exhibition reflected the diversity and creativity of emaSwati entrepreneurs, showcasing products ranging from fashion and leather goods to financial services and transport solutions.

Vibrant atmosphere and community engagement

The fair was marked by a lively and engaging atmosphere, with visitors interacting with exhibitors and exploring locally made products.

In a light-hearted moment, the Minister won a trip to Zanzibar at the LEAP Taxi stall, adding to the excitement and energy of the event.

Government support for local enterprise

Demonstrating tangible support for local businesses, Minister Khumalo purchased a variety of products from exhibitors, reinforcing the importance of backing MSMEs as key drivers of economic growth and job creation.

He emphasised that supporting local enterprises is essential in building a resilient economy, creating employment opportunities and fostering innovation within the country.

Platform for growth and market access

The Consumer Fair continues to serve as an important platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their offerings, connect with customers and expand their market reach.

By bringing together businesses, government and consumers, the initiative strengthens collaboration and encourages a culture of supporting locally produced goods.

The event also aligns with broader national efforts to promote the “Buy Local” agenda, ensuring that emaSwati businesses are empowered to thrive in a competitive marketplace.

As the fair continues, it stands as a testament to the growing potential of Eswatini’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and the collective commitment to driving sustainable economic development.
