MBABANE – The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) has appealed to beneficiaries of the elderly grant and disability grant to remain patient following delays in the disbursement of their monthly payments caused by a technical fault affecting the mobile money payment system.

In a public statement issued on Monday, the DPM’s Office said payments had been delayed due to a system breakdown on the mobile money platform used to transfer the grants to beneficiaries but remained optimistic grants disbursement may resume as early as of tomorrow (Tuesday).

The office assured the public that officials were working closely with relevant stakeholders to resolve the technical challenges as quickly as possible and restore the payment system.

“We wish to inform beneficiaries of the elderly grant and disability grant that payments have been delayed due to a technical problem experienced on the mobile money platform,” the statement said.

The DPM’s Office further pleaded with beneficiaries to exercise patience while technicians work to rectify the fault, stressing that the delays were beyond the ministry’s control.

It also assured grant recipients that the outstanding payments would be processed immediately once the system had been restored.

“The grants will be paid as soon as the system is back online,” the statement added.

The office concluded by thanking beneficiaries for their understanding and cooperation during the disruption.
