MBABANE – Eswatini has taken another confident step in strengthening its international partnerships, as the country reaffirmed its commitment to deeper cooperation with Portugal in areas that directly support development and opportunity.
During a cordial engagement, Eswatini’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Pholile Shakantu, welcomed Portugal’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Ana Isabel Xavier, with both leaders expressing strong optimism about the future of relations between Eswatini and Portugal.

The discussions centered on expanding collaboration in trade, tourism, and education—three sectors seen as powerful drivers of inclusive growth. By encouraging targeted investments and knowledge exchange, the two nations are positioning themselves to create practical benefits for their citizens and business communities.
Education and research also featured prominently, with emphasis on shared learning, skills development, and academic cooperation. Such collaboration is expected to empower young people, promote innovation, and strengthen institutional capacity on both sides.
