MBABANE— The engines have not started roaring yet, but Mbabane is already gearing up for a weekend of wheels, music and economic activity as the +268 Motorcycle Club prepares for its inaugural rally.

The three-day +268 MCC Rally, themed “Siphusa ngo Thando”, will take place from September 18 to 20, 2026, at the Prince of Wales in Mbabane. The launch was held today at Albert Millin, with the event receiving support from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister, Principal Secretary Simon Zwane applauded the Mbabane City Council for remaining open to different events and stakeholders, saying the approach could set an example for other towns.

“The Minister believes in partnership as it is the key to many different things. If you want to go fast, go alone, and if you want to go far, go together.”

Zwane said the rally, being the first of its kind in Mbabane, demonstrates the importance of collaboration between government, the city council, communities and private stakeholders.

He described Mbabane as a “living being” with intricate processes that require different stakeholders to work together to meet the needs of residents and visitors.

The PS also praised the motorcycle community for its unity and contribution to community outreach and development, encouraging bikers to continue supporting one another.

According to Zwane, the rally is expected to bring the streets and atmosphere of Mbabane alive while creating opportunities for economic activity through visitors, vendors and businesses.

He further assured the organisers of the ministry’s commitment to supporting the event, noting that its success would demonstrate government’s role in responding to the needs and interests of people in the city.

The rally will feature a Friday jam session, Saturday family activities, a breakfast run, vendor stalls and live entertainment before a Sunday send-off.

Zwane even floated the possibility of seeing more motorcycle rallies across different towns, highlighting the potential of such events to spread economic activity beyond Mbabane.

With government support behind the handlebars, +268 MCC is now preparing to turn Mbabane into a buzzing meeting point for bikers, families, businesses and entertainment lovers.
