MBABANE – A young Liswati student studying in Taiwan has made Eswatini proud after earning a prestigious international academic award for outstanding performance in his studies.
Siyabonga Junior Dlamini, an International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) scholarship recipient, was honoured with the ICDF Academic Performance Award following his exceptional results during the final semester of the 2025 academic year.
Dlamini is currently enrolled in the International Undergraduate Programme in Mechanical Engineering at Kun Shan University, where he has distinguished himself among international students through dedication and academic excellence.
The prestigious award is reserved for only a select number of international students who demonstrate remarkable academic achievement and commitment to their studies.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Dlamini described the recognition as both humbling and motivating. “I am grateful to be receiving the ICDF Academic Performance Award and truly appreciate this recognition,” he said.
He explained that studying abroad has provided him with valuable experiences that continue to shape his academic and personal growth. “Studying in Taiwan is helping me grow academically and personally, and I am thankful for the opportunities and experiences I am gaining along the way,” said Dlamini.
The young scholar also expressed appreciation to the people who have supported him throughout his educational journey. “I would like to thank ICDF, my professors, classmates, friends, and family for their continuous support and encouragement throughout my journey,” he added.
Dlamini further noted that the achievement has inspired him to work even harder and maximise the opportunities presented to him. “Receiving this award is motivating me to continue working hard and making the most of the opportunities I am being given,” he said.
His achievement has been widely praised as a source of pride for Eswatini, highlighting the potential of emaSwati students to excel on the international stage when given access to quality educational opportunities.
The ICDF scholarship programme continues to support students from developing countries by providing access to higher education and professional development opportunities abroad.
