MALKERNS – The cheers have faded, the stage lights have gone dim, but for Eswatini music sensation Sancheziey, the memories of his electrifying MoMo Xperience performance are only getting louder.
The award-winning local star has described his appearance at this year’s MoMo Xperience as a defining career moment, saying the overwhelming reception from thousands of music lovers gave him exactly what every artist hopes for — genuine love, validation and a glimpse of what lies ahead for his upcoming album.
Performing during one of the festival’s biggest moments, Sancheziey delivered a carefully crafted set that had fans singing, dancing and screaming from start to finish. The performance quickly became one of the most talked-about highlights of the event, with social media flooded by praise from fans celebrating his stage presence and musical delivery.
Reflecting on the experience, the artist said no words could truly capture what he felt after stepping off the stage.
“You know some experiences can never be expressed the right way. With the feedback we got soon as we jump off stage, and on social media, I can safely say it was everything an artist would like for his brand. It was a moment of growth, moment of witnessing the love of emaSwati and moment of getting live audience response for the album before it even drops. It was a beautiful experience all in all.”
Beyond the applause, Sancheziey said the performance reminded him why he continues to create music for emaSwati, insisting the crowd owed him nothing while he equally owed them nothing except authenticity.
“Much as they say, I don’t owe them anything, I can safely say, they don’t owe me anything either… the crowd told me indirectly how much they love being emaSwati. Their sing along, dances and loud screams… was enough for the whole team to push hard.”
Asked to single out his favourite moment from the show, the artist refused to choose, saying every second of the performance contributed to telling the story he and his team had carefully planned.
“If you want me to lie, I’d mention one but because I’m not here for lies, then the set was incredible from the entrance to the last seconds. I had the best time of my life to be honest. We had a plan, and we executed it correctly, we had a story to tell and we told it the right way, so yes I can’t pick one moment.”
Sancheziey also applauded fellow local artists for raising the bar with their performances, saying the quality displayed on stage proved that Eswatini’s music industry is capable of delivering world-class entertainment. He added that being entrusted with one of the event’s prime performance slots exceeded his expectations.
“The delivery we did as local acts on stage made the team behind MoMo Xperience proud and personally being trusted with the prime slot is more than what I anticipated. With that being said, we are so much grateful to the team and we urge they continue to pour the love even in coming years.”
With MoMo Xperience now behind him, Sancheziey says his attention has shifted to what he believes will be another milestone in his career — the release of his highly anticipated album, uMntfwana weLive.
He revealed that performing songs from the project before thousands of fans gave him confidence that the body of work is ready to make an impact.
“uMntfwana weLive album is all that I’m about next. MoMo has assisted that I get to taste in on stage and I can assure emaSwati that we have another milestone to walk together.”
For Sancheziey, MoMo Xperience was more than just another festival appearance. It was a celebration of local music, a powerful connection with his supporters and the perfect launchpad for the next chapter of his musical journey.
