MBABANE- Eswatini’s gospel powerhouse Nothando Hlophe has reached an unprecedented milestone in her career, as her hit single “Methodist Medley” officially claimed the number one spot on the South African YouTube Daily Music Chart this January.

This achievement marks the first time a gospel song has topped the chart in 2026, solidifying Hlophe’s status as a regional force in the industry.

The song’s dominance is not limited to video platforms. “Methodist Medley” has also become a juggernaut on Spotify, where it reached a peak of #25 on the South African Daily Chart with over 41 000 daily streams. It currently holds the distinction of being the first solo gospel track by an Eswatini artist to surpass 4 million streams on Spotify, while its YouTube views have soared past the 7 million mark.

A standout track from her latest album, ‘A New Dawn,’ the medley is a deeply personal collection of traditional hymns. Hlophe, who launched the album on June 7, 2025, at the Mavuso Trade Centre, shared that the project is a reflection of her childhood and spiritual growth. “These hymns carry the essence of my faith journey. They remind me of God’s faithfulness throughout my life and the comfort that comes from His presence,” she reflected.

The success of the project is a testament to high-level collaboration and local expertise. The album’s production was managed by Genesis Ekucaleni Media, founded by Senator Pholile Shakantu, a pioneer known for her work on the acclaimed film ‘BakaNgwane.’ Additionally, Lokuhle Media Group, led by innovative producer Phindokuhle Sithole, played a vital role in crafting the album’s vibrant, chart-topping sound.

Beyond the “Methodist Medley,” the album continues to produce hits, with the track “Sithumela Wena” already surpassing 1 million views on YouTube. This momentum has led to “Methodist Medley” being named the EBIS Song of the Year, officially recognized as the most-played gospel song of early 2026.

With lyrics that emphasize divine protection and unwavering assurance, Hlophe’s music has clearly resonated with a nation seeking refuge and hope. As she continues to shatter records, Nothando Hlophe is proving that authentic, faith-driven music knows no borders.
