MBABANE – Award-winning gospel sensation Phetsile Masilela has officially stepped in to mentor and support rising singer Nonsikelelo Jele ahead of her highly anticipated debut release.

The partnership marks a significant moment of professional and spiritual growth within the local gospel industry.

Jele recently opened up about the pivotal role Masilela has played in shaping her entry into the music space, describing the veteran’s support as both practical and life-changing. Her debut single, ‘Moyongcwele,’ marks her first official step into the limelight—a milestone she believes would have been significantly delayed without Masilela’s intervention.

“She covered the costs of making sure the music is recorded and released, and she mentored me on what is expected and how to improve my craft,” Jele expressed.

Beyond the financial backing, Jele highlighted the consistent encouragement she received throughout the rigorous recording process. She explained that while singing has always held a special place in her heart, receiving guidance from an established industry figure has solidified her confidence in her calling.

“Through the help I am receiving, I now see that things are starting to come along and I am motivated to continue,” Jele stated, noting that the experience has renewed her hope and determination to build a lasting gospel career.

Masilela, a decorated figure in the gospel fraternity, described Jele as a determined young woman whose persistence was impossible to ignore. For Masilela, the decision to help was rooted in a desire to see more women succeed in what she describes as a demanding industry.

“Jele is a well-determined young woman who loves music, and I always try to lend a helping hand where I can, especially to women in gospel because it is not easy,” Masilela shared.

The award-winner recounted how Jele consistently reached out seeking guidance, a sign of commitment that ultimately influenced her decision to invest. She clarified that her support was based purely on recognizing true dedication rather than any personal preference.

“It was not about favouritism; her work and determination spoke for her,” Masilela added, emphasising that no special criteria were applied beyond recognizing Jele’s drive.

As ‘Moyongcwele’ prepares for its official release, Masilela has pledged to continue her support, promising to walk the journey step-by-step with the emerging artist. This collaboration serves as a powerful reminder of how mentorship can bridge the gap for the next generation of gospel voices.
