MBABANE –The Eswatini Robotics League has officially opened registration with an E200 000 prize pool and global scholarship opportunities on offer, marking a major support or STEM education and youth innovation in the country. Registration is now open, with the closing date set for August 30, 2026.
The league has opened its doors to schools, colleges, universities, academies, robotics clubs, innovation hubs and independent teams across the country to register and compete in what organisers describe as Eswatini’s largest robotics competition to date.
ERL is structured into six divisions aimed at accommodating learners and innovators at different levels of education and expertise. These include the Tech League for primary school learners, Makers League for secondary school students, Stars League for high school learners, Engineers League for university students and professionals, AI League for artificial intelligence enthusiasts, and the Drone League focusing on aerial technology and mission-based challenges.
Organisers say the initiative goes beyond competition, aiming to equip participants with practical, future-ready skills in technology, innovation and problem-solving while preparing them for opportunities in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Teams will be challenged to design, build and programme innovative solutions while working collaboratively to solve real-world problems. Participants will gain hands-on exposure to robotics, coding, electronics, machine learning, data science, engineering research and drone operations.
The championship carries a total prize pool of E200 000, which will be distributed across the various divisions. In addition to the cash prizes, winners will have access to international scholarship opportunities through partnerships with universities in Singapore and Germany, as well as internship and industry attachment programmes.
According to organisers, the league aims to inspire, develop and empower the next generation of engineers, scientists and technology leaders, while positioning Eswatini as a growing hub for STEM education and innovation.
Institutions are allowed to register multiple teams, with each team consisting of a minimum of three members and one coach, and a maximum of six members and one coach.
