MANZINI – In a pulsating showdown that kept fans on the edge of their seats, Tabankulu Celtics have secured a historic promotion to the elite MTN Premier League of Eswatini. The Celtics, who finished in the top four of the MTN First Division, clinched their spot after a nail-biting 3-2 victory over Sidvwashini United in the playoffs.
The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with both teams fiercely contesting every ball. However, it was Vusi Mavuso who emerged as the hero, scoring a dramatic goal to seal the win and complete his brace. Mavuso’s decisive strike not only won the game but also etched his name in the club’s history as the player who propelled them into the top flight.
Coach Shongwe, the young and dynamic tactician behind this remarkable achievement, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to lead Tabankulu Celtics. “Many young coaches don’t get the chance to prove themselves because clubs often prefer experienced names from big teams,” he said. “I’m truly blessed to have been entrusted with this responsibility.”
