LOBAMBA – “One Game, One Dream… United in Motion.”
These were the powerful words echoed by COSSASA President Arthur Maposa as he officially opened the 2025 COSSASA track and field championships and ball games at Somhlolo National Stadium in Manzini.
Addressing athletes, officials, and dignitaries, Maposa said the theme reflected the organization’s vision of unity and excellence in sports. He commended the increased participation from member countries, describing it as proof of the growing commitment to sports development across the region.
“We are thrilled to see increased numbers from our member countries, and this is a testament to the growing interest and commitment to sports development in our region,” Maposa declared to a jubilant crowd.
Gratitude to Eswatini
The President expressed his deepest gratitude to the Government of Eswatini, particularly the Ministries of Education and Training, and Sports, for warmly welcoming and supporting the event. He highlighted the presence of Cabinet ministers as evidence of Eswatini’s dedication to nurturing young talent through sport.
He also extended heartfelt thanks to the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), applauding their tireless efforts in ensuring the successful staging of the games.
Call for Fair Play
Maposa urged athletes and coaches to compete with integrity, respect, and sportsmanship.
“May your participation be filled with camaraderie and friendly competition. I wish and pray for an injury-free and fair competition, where athletes can showcase their talents to the fullest,” he said.
Games Begin with Hope and Excitement
The opening ceremony was filled with colour and unity as athletes carried their national flags into the stadium. With the official declaration by President Maposa, the championships are now underway, promising thrilling contests in athletics and ball games.
