MBABANE- Passion, nostalgia, and a convoy of Cressidas set to light up the streets.
Eswatini will witness a rare showcase of old-school motoring passion as the Toyota Toycam Crew (TTC), a South African-based collective of vintage car enthusiasts, brings its convoy of classic Cressidas to the Kingdom next weekend from 3rd to 5th of October 2025.
Formed in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Johannesburg, TTC was born out of the shared love for old-school vehicles, particularly the iconic Toyota Cressida. Today, the crew is one of the most vibrant old-car collectives in the region, drawing attention wherever their gleaming rides pass.
Zweli Vilakati, the youngest and first Swazi member of TTC, says hosting the crew in Eswatini is a proud milestone for him. “They chose Eswatini because I’ve been attending most of their Fun Runs in South Africa, and since I am the youngest in the crew, members felt it was time to visit my country,” he explained.
The convoy, which is expected to feature around 25 cars on arrival, will be received at Oshoek border on Friday before heading to Matsapha. Saturday, October 4 will be the main day, with the crew hitting the streets of Matsapha, Kwaluseni, Manzini, Ngwane Park, and Fairview to showcase their timeless machines. Local old-school car lovers are also expected to join the convoy.

Cressidas hold a special place in the hearts of TTC members. Vilakati highlighted their lasting appeal: “Cressidas are so special to us because of the durability and longevity these cars have. Some are over 40 years old yet still drive like they left the factory yesterday.”
Beyond the roar of engines and polished chrome, the event is about brotherhood and keeping car culture alive. “Such events keep the car culture alive because once you join a crew like this, you never look back. We have met brothers who are more than just car lovers, they can go the extra mile for you,” said Vilakati.
Although there are no official plans to make Eswatini an annual stop for TTC, Vilakati hinted at the possibility of future visits: “If this event lives to their expectations, it might not be the first and last time they come to Eswatini.”
For Vilakati, the event is personal. His love for Cressidas dates back to childhood, inspired by his father’s Cressida GLI-6. Today, his dream car remains the Toyota Cressida 3.0i Twincam 24-valve Automatic, a timeless classic.
