MATSAPHA – The Kingdom of Eswatini witnessed a profound display of unity and progress on May 23, 2026, as women from across the nation and South Africa gathered at Sibayeni Lodge’s Esangweni Hall. The 9th edition of the “Break Your Shell” Mother’s Day event served as a landmark platform, dedicated to fostering leadership, entrepreneurship, faith, and personal development.
Held under the evocative theme, “Footprints of a Black Woman,” the day-long summit created a purposeful space for entrepreneurs, faith leaders, and community stakeholders. The program was structured to facilitate high-level networking, refine professional skills, and catalyze economic participation among women.
The event was honored by the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Jane Simelane, and Senator Linda Simelane. Both leaders emphasized the importance of advancing women-led initiatives as foundational pillars of the nation’s growth.
During her address, Minister Jane Simelane praised the initiative for sustaining such a dynamic platform. Reflecting on the broader impact of the summit, Minister Simelane noted, “The event’s contribution to the local tourism sector and the impressive assembly of over 200 international participants alongside local attendees underscores the growing potential of our women entrepreneurs”.
Senator Linda Simelane encouraged the participants to remain unified and intentional in their support for one another. She stated, “Collective empowerment serves as the cornerstone for fostering stronger families and more resilient communities”.
The movement, spearheaded by Founder Phiwayinkhosi Mabuza, was established to provide a secure and inclusive environment where women could exchange experiences and elevate their business acumen. Lead facilitator Mamikie Melani underscored the program’s commitment to practical empowerment, prioritizing knowledge sharing and high-impact motivational engagement.
The summit featured an expert lineup of speakers—including Samukelisiwe Litswane, Buyile Shongwe, Richard Phungwayo, and Fikile Nkosi—who explored critical themes ranging from financial literacy to spiritual discipline. The sessions were masterfully guided by Welile Kunene and Tebogo Modisane, ensuring that each workshop and discussion was both seamless and deeply engaging.
The 9th edition of “Break Your Shell” concluded with a clarion call to action: “Women across Eswatini are not merely waiting for opportunities—they are architecting them”. Through the powerful theme, “Footprints of a Black Woman,” the event successfully solidified a legacy of resilience, unity, and visionary leadership within the Kingdom. By providing a structured environment for growth and connection, the organizers ensured that the momentum created during this event would continue to foster long-term professional development and social cohesion across Eswatini.
